i feel awful- toddler and pooping. LONG
my almost 3 yo just had 2 UTI's. she had a clean culture in between, they were 2 separate infections. so ped wanted me to take her for a renal sonogram and a vcug(a catheter test). I took her today, and thankfuly, both tests were negative. HOWEVER- the doc said he saw a lot of stool on the film, and her bladder is very large- she was able to hold more than most 10 yo's can. told me to call ped to discuss it, and there can be a link between constipation and UTI's. DD normally poops every 3-4 days, hard, btu she doesn't cry. in the pstm we hd issues, she was on miralax, but not now. so i called ped, he told me to start miralax again, and basically said it's POSSIBLE- not for sure- she retaining pee since she is constipated, may have stretched bladder. or she can jsut hold a lot. but the constipation is no good, its a breeding ground for bacteria.
bottom line- i feel awful. i should have been more on top of it, and now i'm freaked out about it too, i mean what happens if she can't get the poop out? she last went on sunday, with big time screaming- i knew she was CURRENTLY constipated.

It's not unusual for toddlers to withhold their poops. It's a control thing. I would definitely do the miralax, but also make sure she's getting enough fiber and water everyday. Don't feel bad, you can't possibly know these kinds of things. Now that you do know, you can take care of it. She'll be ok
