I think it's a good idea. Do they really know you're not married??? You don't have any relatives that may have told them?

Depends on what you expect to get out of it. They may see it as you opening the door for a relationship. If that isn't what you are looking for I wouldn't send it.

My husband has a VERY strained relationship with his dad and keeps contact to a minimum for the exact reason he doens't want to open the door.

I agree with this. Also, think about the reaction you are expecting. Especially being pregnant might not be the time to bring on added emotion and stress. I just know how much these things hurt and now is such a happy time. Just think about it...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

The only thing I think is," Will it help you?"

I was estranged from my mom and sister for about a year after my wedding.

I finally let things go and they are back in my life. But to be honest, I feel better overall. It's weird, now there are boundries, but I do feel overall it was a good decision to let them back in.

It was HARD and took a while.

What I am trying to say, is do the best thing for yourself. Do what makes you feel better.

If you ever need to talk, please feel free to FM.

Ladies -

thanks for your responses.

I want nothing from them. I even sent the letter, type-written, from work with my work logo on it - that way if my mom tries to get in touch with me, its through work and nor through my home.

I just feel they should know they have another family member somewhere. They should know I am married and soon to be a mom.... I feel ambivalent to it still, even though I know they received the letter by now.
