We do ours together but I am also my Dad's power of attorney and have to handle all of his finances, investments, medical paperwork... that alone is a part-time job.

This is true. He doesnt do the check book like me. I do it the correct way, subtracting and adding and all that fun stuff. The only thing he writes is the check that he is writing outs info. So on the side, I have a secret legder that I balance and when I see he messed up or there isnt enough in there, I transfer $$. He claims he does it so well and I just  . One day I am gonna pull my ledger out and be like LOOK u mess it up and I have to go back and fix it!

Same for me. I cant stand it!!!! but I like to know whats going on... sometimes though I wish I didn't have to know everything lol
I was much more carefree before this became my job!

I do most of the banking online....and I was very reluctant to stop keeping the checkbook when things were paid....but it became pointless when I paid a bill online to write it down....so I no longer keep the ledger and I just go by what online says. I have over-draft, so it makes things easier because I never have to worry if there is enough for things to be covered.

Thats how I feel, I want to know and I don't want to know.
I just get upset sometimes, knowing that I am not working and we write out soooo much in bills.

me too but today we bounced 2 debit purchases ($60 in fees!) i called immediately to get check coverage bc we dont have overdraft
