I am not handling the thought of Jade

going to Jr. High next yr so well Chat Icon I almost get anxiety attacks from the thought ! I want her to always be my baby ,and as much as I enjoy watching her grow into a young lady , there is so much stress coming with it ! I need to chill and go with the flow ,but it is easier said than done Chat Icon

Re: I am not handling the thought of Jade

Awww...my dd is just finishing up her 1st year in middle school. I think 6th grade is way too young but she has done ok. The hardest part is the teachers as I think they treat them more like "junior high" kids than 11/12 yr. olds.

Re: I am not handling the thought of Jade

I was nervous when SS started middle school. Amazingly aside from a little attitude, he adjusted great and didn't get into the trouble I feared that goes on in jr. high. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Im right there with you mama....

I look at my girls and am truly blown away...

When did this happen? They were always my cute little pixies. Now they are these snarky preteens who up talk and gossip. I want my tinkerbells back...

Re: I am not handling the thought of Jade

I get anxiety thinking nof it too for various reasons.

I have another year but I dread it as well.

She is such a sweet girl, who is funny, always laughing and smiling. She wants everyone to get along and have a good time... She is not good at sticking up for herself. She is over weight and while her elementary school had a strict no bullying policy I'm so afraid she is going to be picked on in middle school. She is hardly ever picked on now b/c in her school they consider name calling bullying but middle school I doubt they are as strict. It's going to be a whole other world for her and I'm a nervous wreck!

I am stressing for the same reasons ~ Jade is also overweight , but she has her friends and everyone accepts her for who she is . Now with all the schools going into one for Jr. high ... I am nervous as to what is going to happen

I've mentioned this book before but I did find it a good read.

QueenBees & Wannabes.

The movie Mean Girls was actually modeled after this book.

Re: I am not handling the thought of Jade

I too am not ready for my DD Alexa to go to middle school next year. She's little and most girls her age are at LEAST 6 inches taller then her !! She's has friends, but she's a loner most of the time. I hate watching her at school functions drifting from here to there between groups and feeling like she's not really accepted in any of them. It breaks my heart.

I feel as much as we worry there's not much we can do unless they tell us that something is going on. I'm sure they will learn to hold their own - which means that we'll then have to admit even more that they are growing up

I gave it to my sister for my niece who is in clique hell. She's not the target but part of a larger group of what appears to me as potential mean girls.

Is the book for me , or can my dd read it also?
