I am having a REALLY hard time with starting to wean ds to formula from BM

I am a mental mess. I had always planned to BF to six months and then stop. Now we are at almost 6.5 mos and still EBF. I would really like to start cutting back because I have some health issues I haven't been able to clear up because of BF also I would like to start TTC again later this year and would like to get AF back again among a bunch of other reasons.

But, DS just started solids a few weeks ago and he is having such a hard time with constipation. Today we had to start giving him prune juice. I wanted to start giving him one bottle of formula today and cut down one feeding every two weeks or so but I couldn't do it. I was literally hysterically crying...I am so afraid the formula is going to make his constipation worse and feel terrible about giving him all these new things at once. I can't get over this horrible guilty feeling.

Anyway, just looking for any advice on how to make this transition easier.

You can try Little Tummies for the constipation. I had to stop BFing cold turkey due to DDs medical needs and she was severly constipated. Little tummies helps. You can also give her 1 tsp of Maalox to help if it is really severe. (directed by my daughter's Gastroenterologist)

Can you mix expressed BM with Formula? I had a hard time weaning my son from BM to formula, he threw up everytime he had formula, so over about six weeks I mixed formula and EBM and he was fine. It took a while but it worked. I did like 2 oz EBM, 6 oz formula for 2 weeks, than 3 oz and 5, than 4 and 4 and so on and so forth.
