Hunter Boots Sizing Question

I am considering springing for a pair of hunters but reading some of the online reviews I am confused about sizing. I wear a size 9 in all my shoes, boots etc, do I size up , size down or stay the same for hunters?

Also are those $40 welly socks really worth it?

One more....how is the traction on ice?

I wore my hunters for the first time today the snow is more wet than it is snow. I have to say you do need the socks i have them on and i still kinda feel the cold but I like the height of them for the nasty puddles and it does give good traction. I have my northface boots that I wore in the last snowstorm its warmer and also gives good traction.

I normally wear a 7 I got a 6 and its comfy with the fleece sock.

ETS: the fleece socks are $20 the cable socks and other i guess"fashionable ones" are $40

I usually wear a 7.5/8 and I have the tall in a 7. I don't have the socks though. they seem to have good traction in rain and snow.

Thank you both. Why are zappos selling the socks for $40 I wonder? so I should go with an 8 then I think.

I wear a 9 in everything else and my Hunters are a 9. I put an Uggs insole in them so that takes up room, but it makes them super comfy. I wear the Welly socks with another pair under them. The Welly socks have weird seams and I hate the way they feel on my feet. To me, they are more like boot liners than actual socks. I got a few pairs cheap on Ebay and I just ordered the gray cableknit ones from shoes.com. I couldnt find those anywhere for less than $40.

As far as traction on ice, they are ok. I haven't wiped out yet in them
