Not trying to start an argument...but I'm just curious because it seems a lot of people seem to think what Sarah Silverman said about Brit's kids was funny, 100% the truth, etc.

As a mother, I would not want anyone referring to my kids as a mistake whether I was messing up in the spotlight or not.

It definitely has a negative connotation and I wouldn't be happy (esp. since my DD was the opposite of a "mistake"! Chat Icon). A nicer way of saying that would be "unplanned" which definitely sounds a lot better.

I didn't think that comment was funny at all. Silverman can attack Brit all she wants, but leave the kids out of it. I don't find any humor in the expense of innocent children.

Re: How would you feel if your kids were referred to as mistakes?

How would I feel? I'd feel like beating someone's a$$. But I also have not made a fool of my family and myself by acting like an idiot (shaves her head like a nut ball THEN get nasty weaves, flashes v-j-j, driving with my baby in my lap, etc.-the list goes on and on.) Her KIDS do not deserve the humiliation, but Britney needs to wake up as a mother. Even though Silverman was out of line, I feel Britney's lack of tact and public escapades precipitated the event and she is solely responsible for how the last few months resulted in this busted comeback night.

If ANYONE DARED to say that about my child, I feel VERY sorry for them!!!!!!!!!!

No child asks to be born, no child has a choice as to who they are born to. Britney is a train wreck..shes a mess and I only see bad things for her in the future but to say that about her children?!?!?!??! It makes me SICK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My brother wasnt "planned"...and we have ALWAYS referred to him as a surprise blessing.

I started the post on nfr about it..and I will stick to my guns and say that it was absolutely horrible and it made me sick!

Re: How would you feel if your kids were referred to as mistakes?

The fact that these kids were publicly called mistakes is very sad for them.... This is something that they may be able to hear one day, or they will find out about.... I feel so bad for them.

I always refer to Cailen as a surprise...

Believe it or not, I always think of a Roseann episode where Darlene calls DJ a mistake, I think. DJ gets very upset and asks Roseann, "Was I a mistake?" She tells him, "No, you were a surprise!"

He asked "Whats the difference?"

She said, "Well, a mistake is something you don't want when you get it. A surprise is something you never knew you wanted, until you got it!"

I always loved that. Little did I know at the time how important that would be to me!!!

i do wish sliverman held herself back on that comment. she continues to push things and disregard ppl's feelings.. and it's aggravating. and as much as i dislike spear's character, she did not deserve that!

Re: How would you feel if your kids were referred to as mistakes?

I agree with pp...not funny at all, children have nothing to do with the behaviors of their parents and should not be mocked or ridiculed because of it. It's bad enough when they go to school that they get made of for this or that, but a "professional" on national TV, is just disgusting. Silverman should make a public apology for what she said.

I didn't watch but I heard that there was silence after she said it and got no laughs, thankfully.

I definately wouldn't want someone calling Steven that, because he's not.

My sister and I always used to joke with my mom that we were her best mistakes ever. She used to get mad Chat Icon

Obviously, anyone would be offended by that comment. Whether you let it roll off your back is a matter of your level of tolerance for a rude, obnoxious a*swipe who would ever dare say such a thing.

Re: How would you feel if your kids were referred to as mistakes?

****not a parent, but saw VMA's****

I know people are p*ssed but I took it as a slam to Brittney not her kids. Is it true that they are a mistake.....NO NO NO. Did she say it to get a rise out of people.....YES YES YES. This is what she does and this is very in character for her. She is blunt, and brash. She has no compassion or ability to know when she's really gone to far, but that IS why people love or hate her. She will stand up on a stage and say all the things we thiink.......please do not think what she said about the kids is what i'm meaning here.....I really think what she ment was it was a "mistake" for Brittney to be a mom not that her kids were the mistake because in the same breath she called them cute. Right or Wrong everyone is still talking about it just like she planned. She acomplished what she set out to do...p*ss people off and get them talking about her.....
