How would I go about mimicking this window treatment? (a lot of q's)

We have a similar window in our bedroom... Ours is only three windows and there's a seat but the curvature and actual length of the windows is similar.

Do you think this is custom? Or can I just buy curtains from JCP or somewhere?

What type of rod would I use to make it look continuous like this? Just individual ones and drape the curtains across them?

I don't want blinds, what do you think I could do for privacy?

Sorry for so many questions - I am just looking for some input.

OR - should I ixnay the above plan and go with something like this?

Just do the balloon shades (I also want to wallpaper but we'll see):

THANK YOU!!!!

In the first picture (I LOVE IT!) I think the rods are probably separate. The fabric that hangs between each bunting (is that what that's called?) is, IMO, giving it that continuous flow and avoiding it from looking choppy and separate.

I sent you an FM with some other info though....

EAT: I definitely think its custom, but I think you could pull off something like that on your own.

I agree with Kim, i think they are all seperate rods that are very similiar in color to the valances so it blends in.

it's gorgeous! i can't wait to see your finished product

I think that the first picture are probably custom window treatments and they are probably board mounted. I think that it will be really hard to mimic this look on your own and if you go the route of custom window treatments, be prepared to spend a lot of money.

I really love the look of balloon shades and I think that in the end it will give you a much more professional look for a lot less money. I think if you try to do the first one you may spend a lot of time and energy and then not be satisfied with the outcome. Unless of course you are very crafty. I am not so I might be totally out of line with my comments, and if so, I apologize!

Not out of line and exactly the type of comments I was hoping for!!! I'm not crafty at ALL and I definitely don't want to spend a lot of money for custom. It's bad enough I will have to pay someone to make my window seat cushion b/c I want that to look nice!

Thanks everyone for your input!!! I LOVE this board!!!!

That first one is probably board mounted, if not a series of wide flat rods were most likely used either case its $$$. The board mounted is really not that hard to do.

Def. could be custom in the first pic. Beautiful pics Jenn! Can't wait to see how yours turns out.

I really love the balloon shades. Easy to hang and you won't spend as much. And if you are going to do wallpaper.....just love the look. That is going to be a great place to sit and relax. Chat Icon

Unless each window is actually curved (which is VERY rate!), it's individual rode on each window. I have seen roman shades as an option to blinds. Then there is valance on top.

well if you want that same exact look, you will need to go custom which is $$$$. you could probably get similar balloon shades from jc penney, but i don't think they will look as nice, if you are okay with that. they can guide you as to the exact hardware that you will need.

Thanks everyone - I guess I'll stick with the balloon shades!

I am just thinking out loud here. I wonder if I can stuff the balloon shades with something (like newspaper or tissue paper) to make them fluffy... I'll do some googling.

Thanks for all the help!!

I had balloon valances in my apt years ago and I stuffed them with tissue--looked cute but not dramatic like the pics above. The ones above are definitely custom because of the amount of fabric used and the way it lays.
