How to post a picture using the "Insert Web Image" feature...

I've seen a few posts today where people had trouble posting pics. I never use the attach images section and never have to resize...

Here you go!

1. Find a picture (either online, on your shutterfly or photo account, in your LIF album, etc).

2. Right click on the picture with your mouse.

3. When the dialog box comes up go to properties.

4. You will see the web address for the picture ending in .jpg. Highlight that link and then right click it and choose copy.

5. Hit Reply to a post and on the left side under the smilies you will see "Insert Web Image". Click on that and paste the link. Make sure to paste over the existing http:// that is already there (or just delete it before pasting your link in there)... otherwise your picture won't show up.

Those are directions for Internet Explorer. Firefox is easier to use, and slightly less steps.

In Firefox:
Step 1 and Step 2 are the same.

Step 3 and 4 are instead: Right-click on the picture you want to use, then click on "Copy Image Location"

Then use Step 5

It's different and easier for Safari (mac) too, but I figured most people use IE on a PC so I just posted it that way.

When i'm using my Mac laptop I just drag the picture here into the message box, then copy the link that shows up. Then delete the link from the message box and paste it into the Insert Web Image box.

Why not just get rid of the attach images boxes!

NOOOO!!!!! I use those a lot! I usually don't feel like double-posting my images. First on shutterfly, then linking them to here. It's just easier to resize them myself, and upload them directly.

I either use MS Paint to resize individual images, or PixResizer if I want to do an entire folder of images.
