How to get your DC to sleep thru the nite?

I thought I had it good with DD for being a 3 month old and waking up once for about 1 or 2oz and back to bed.
As of Fri, she dosent do this anymore and is up every 2 hrs. For a bottle, a pacifier, etc.

What happened?

I didnt change anything.

She might be teething. When my little one is teething he gets up during the night. After a week or two he goes back to his norm.

With my first DD - is she wasn't teething or growing thru a growth spurt, it was an ear infection.

Growth spurt for my DD. She started teething at around 4 months (drooling, runny nose, hands always in the mouth..but didn't get any teeth until about 9 months) Chat Icon

My dd was teething since about 2 1/2 - 3 months...she cut two teeth at 4 months so she definitely can be teething. no real way to "know" until they break through

Most important lesson you can learn to survive the first three years without losing your sanity is that progress is never perfectly linear -- things will get better, then worse, then better again! Schedules change and then change back and sometimes there is no good reason...

That being said, I'd guess a growth spurt if you are looking for an explanation (not that it will change anything better than time will!)

Re: How to get your DC to sleep thru the nite?

Bella's doing the SAME thing! Chat Icon She's only 2 months and went from sleeping through the night to being VERY fussy throughout the night now. She's up every 2 hours AND she's always putting her hands in her mouth now and drooling.

She can really start teething this early???? Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: How to get your DC to sleep thru the nite?

Calla is right.

When DS was that age he slept the entire night. Then around 5-6mths he would wake up every hour looking for his pacifier. Around 7mths he slept the entire night 8pm-7am. At 8mths old he woke up screaming bloody murder every single night and would only fall asleep in my bed with me. Now at 9mths old and his 1st tooth he sleeps all night again. I am sure this will change once tooth #2 emerges.

It seems to be a never ending cycle for me at least.

I'm going through the exact same thing.

DS was sleeping thorugh the night and now it's every 2-3 hours and he's IMPOSSIBLE to settle anymore.

It's making me crazy.

Re: How to get your DC to sleep thru the nite?

DD didn't start sleeping through the night until 6 months old. What really worked for us was the routine - same stories every night, bottle, then bed. I was told to try that earlier, but didn't. I'm not sure if it would make a difference (if you're not doing it already.)
