How to ask another mom on a "date"

DD goes to the Little Gym in Sayville Tuesday mornings. There is another little boy in her class who is adorable, rambunctious and matches DD's temperament. I feel they'd play well together. I haven't formally introduced myself to the mom because DD runs all over at the classes, as does her son, so it's usually just a passing "Hello". The last class is next week and I feel stupid introducing myself NOW after so long. We probably won't be doing it again because it's too expensive.

Anyway- I was thinking of inviting the woman and her son over for a playdate but don't know how to ask. I don't even know her name. I also don't want to have to ask the whole class to come over, so do I chase her down in the parking lot?Chat Icon

I know. Pathetic.

I would ask if she'd be interested in meeting up at a park before asking her to your house.

I would say something like I'm not sure if I have introduceD myself. I'm so and so. Then talk about the class and say how you think they would have fun together. Then ask she wants to meet up something. Either at your house or at a park and then give her your number with your name on it b/c I always forget names.

Good for you. I know it's eaisier said then done n

I would just say something to her in passing like Hi I'm ______- I'm embarrassed that I never introduced myself - but it seems like these two get along great - would you be interested in setting up a playdate for them sometime. or something to that effect. I have had moms say that to us or seen others do that all the time.

I agree - maybe ask if she wants to meet to walk in a park or something before/after the class. She'll probably be likely to meet you in a public place before agreeing to your home.
