How to apply eyeliner to make your eyes look BIGGER, not smaller?

Is there a trick? or is eyeliner simply meant to always make your eyes look smaller?

I've been experimenting different methods....I want my eyes to look defined, but not smaller.

any tips for me?

Put it on your upper eye lash line, not lower.
The lower line makes the eye look smaller.

I put the primer on, then eye shadow. I use black eyeliner on my upper lash line with a black pencil, then trace with a black liquid one.

I curly my lashes, then apply 3 coats of mascara. It opens my eyes.

Try that.

I feel like the cat eye always makes my eyes look bigger with NO liner on the bottom...

Thanks! I love the cat eye and can do it perfectly on my left eye but not my right eye. Very annoying.

It's definitely a skill that takes a LONG time to perfect. Try a thin angled brush with a liquid liner. That's what always helps me.

Cat eye on upper lid..

do not line the waterline..makes eyes appear much smaller

Line only upper lid..however you usually do. I have used an angled brush with black eyeshadow..dampen the brush first. Or I use fluidline from MAC.

Another trick to open up your eyes..take a damp brush, dip in some whitish light eyeshadow..phloof from mac is a great one, and put in in the inner and outer corners of your eyes..also you can put in in the lower water line and upper water line of your eyes..makes the appear even whiter..which makes them appear much bigger..sorry I wish I had a diagram..lol...

I don't do a cat eye, I put it on on the outer 3rd of my lower lid and blend it over and then I start at the outer corners on the top, the edges are quit thick, but then it's belnded so that by the time you get to my nose there's just the thinnest line. I don't go beyond my eye o the outside, so no cat eye.

Line just upper lid however you normally do it and use a white eye liner on the lower lid. It's not bright white, but it's white. I learned that from Tyra Banks LOL They sell it everywhere

I also brush a small amount of whatever color eyeshadow I am using along the bottom of my lid. Not IN but right along the bottom just to bring that shade down too.

I use white liner on top with my regular liner, i only do 1/2 of my bottom.

cat eye and only half bottom so in other words dont line bottom line all the way and less than halfway point.

I do something like that video...keep it light close to my eye, and open my eye up with a color in crease....do you have a white eyeliner??? that is the trick...alittle goes a long way...

Like the other girls said- I only use liner on the top of my eyelids. Sometimes a little on the bottom, but don't overdo it. With a lot of practice I finally perfected a smokey eye so I do that a lot as well and it certainly brings out my eye color and makes my eyes bigger. I always use eyeshadow after applying the liner. Even just a little helps. And I always use mascara. Fake lashes help too but are not necessary. I still don't know how to apply them!!!!!
