How the heck do you get a cat to take a pill???!!
I've tried everything, mixing with food and shoving it in the cats mouth... and she spit it out...
Any suggestions???

When all else fails, I would just wrap it in a little bit of cheese to coat it, pry open the cat's mouth, put the pill ALL the way back on the tongue by the throat and then hold the cat's mouth closed until it swallowed. Then I would usually follow up with a tasty bit of turkey or something to make up for it. I would try to do it before a meal too, so my cat would forget the awful event as he dove into his food.
I know, it sounds awful, and believe me I didn't enjoy doing it, but when nothing else worked and my cat Needed his medicine, it had to be done.

I requested liquid medication for that exact reason!
Then my husband and I team up on the poor guy - DH wraps him in a blanket and I pry his mouth open and inject the liquid right down his throat.
He adores it!

I kneel over my cat, pry open her mouth and shove the pill all the way to the back of her throat. Then hold her mouth shut so she can't spit it out.
My cat loves this

My cat is on pills 3 times a day it is NOT FUN. I crush it up with a spoon and mix it into the food. Vet said that was fine.
Shes also on a lquid and thats HARDER for me to give her!

Thanks for the suggestions, I tried food of every sort, didn't work... I ended up wrapping 2 of them in a towel and forcing the pill down... they were NOT HAPPY with me! I felt horrible... and I ended up having to take the 3rd kitty to the vet so they could giver her the pill because she would NOT let me do it! oh well!

I heard that you put the pill into the cats mouth towards the back and hold their mouth closed then quickly but nicely blow on their nose. This takes the cat by suprise and the natural reaction is to swallow.

Oh my gosh, did I read that right? You have to give pills to THREE cats?!? You poor thing! Are they all sick where they need medicine daily, or is it a one time thing? (I'm hoping for the 1 time thing!)
What magic method did the vet use w/ kitty #3?

Carefully!!! WIth a box of Band-aids close by! My suggestion is to crush it up and put it in some wet food. Thats how we do it with my vicious cat....
Once she had a cold and the doctor gave us some medicine which was a powder...she said, put a pinch of powder in the cats mouth twice a day...YEAH RIGHT.
Ouch!
eta...next time she was sick and needed antibiotics, the vet gave me injectables, so I just gave her an injection every two days

AHHH yes 3 kitties!  It was their worming pill... I have to give it to them in another month... I think I'll just take them all to the vet...
I'm not sure how they did it because I had the 2 kids with me they just took her in the back room and were back in only a minute, so it wasn't hard for them I guess
