How Old was your baby when they started sitting up on their own?

Katie has been sitting up for a few weeks but she kind of leans forward. I wonder when she'll sit straight up on her own - how old were your kids?

Brendan was tripod sitting a little before 6 months I think. By 6.5 months he was sitting up well all on his own.

I started getting worried about this yesterday when I saw a "look who's 3 months old" post and the baby was sitting by themself on the bed. DS is 5 months and is doing the same thing as Katie. I wonder when he'll do it on his own as well....but I think it'll be soon.

Oh gosh, I would say between 6-7 months but it was very wobbly in the beginning.

Sara was early - she sat up and crawled on in one week at 5 months

5 and 6 months

He tripod for about 2 months. Around 6 months he was sitting well on his own and by the end of his 6th month - he could get to sitting on his own too.

Noah sat up on his own when he was 5.5 months..and now...

Noah can stand up! All by himself! And he can *stumble* not quite walk, but stumble from sofa to sofa!

he is a SUPERHERO!!!

Oh, he is almost 10 months!!

Ellie is 5 mos and she can tripod sit but not up on her own so we'll see how far off it is.

DS started like yours at 5 months and by 6 months he was sitting well on his own. Now that he is almost 7 months, he stands up on the pack n play for a few seconds holding himself.

not until 8 months on his own. don't worry every child is different!

6-7 months

I believe 6 months.. and at 7 he wasnt wobbly at all...

5.5 mos but 6 mos he wasn't wobbly anymore.

Julia was around 5 months.

my son crawled before he sat...he "mastered" sitting at 12 months

My DD was 6 1/2 months. She never really did a tripod thing, just wouldnt sit and then when she did, she sat so sturdy from the get go. I dont remember with my DS #1, probably around the same time. My DS #2 is doing his tripod/fall on his face thing alot now (hes 5 months) and has rolled maybe 5 times in his life. Hes just content to be...or very lazy LOL

As I am learningas a new mom, you can not compare children because everyones child is SPECIAL and different in their own way.

He/She will sit up when they are ready.

6.5 months, she was pretty much completely stable. Once in a while she'll tip over especially when she looks up.
