How much weight does the avg woman lose at birth? Baby + placenta weight only?
I think I remember the placenta weighing 2-3 pounds and the baby should weigh like 6-9 pounds.
Is it safe to assume I'll be losing ~10 pounds at birth?
What's the breakout of all the other pregnancy weight?

Im pretty sure it is a case by case thing. Just because Mary lost x amount of weight does not mean you will. You may loose more. You wont know until you are there.

i have no idea what i lost. i didn't get on a scale for weeks--i honestly didn't care at that point.
all i cared about was healing and taking care of DS--i never thought to weigh myself!

ditto, its def. depends on the person, their body, etc. Its not a standard figure

I haven't gotten on the scale yet but I can tell I've lost a lot of weight since having him on 12/30 (I think I gained about 30-35 lbs). I do still have "water weight" right now as my feet are still a bit swollen and my rings don't fit (just my wedding band which I was able to squeeze on today). It is different for everyone though.
A lot of women's bodies change after pregnancy and for better or for worse, I think it's something that we will need to accept ;).

I think everyone is different...I gained 28 pounds total pregnant, 15 days after birth today, I am down 21 pounds but my body is def not the same, I tried something on that I had pre pregnancy and my azz and hips are MASSIVE along with my BOOBS (I'm BFing) so I'm hoping those areas will eventually go down somehow...

I gained 50 with my dd, by 1 week post partum, I was down 30 lbs
I lost 15lbs in the hospital, my dd was 9 1/2 lbs

I remember weighing myself at the hospital like 2 days PP and I had only lost like 12lbs. I was not thrilled.

Not to discourage you but so you don't think you are crazy, I didn't lost the final 8-10 pounds UNTIL I weaned my DD. I know that most women said that breastfeeding helped them lose the weight but for me it was the opposite.

it's definently different for everyone. I lost 17 lbs in my 3 day stay in the hospital.

I was down 22 lbs the day I left the hospital (stayed 3 days). I gained 56 overall. HTH!

i gained about 22 pounds throughout my pregnancy. didn't lose a pound at the hospital because i retained a ton of fluid and was swollen.
i lost 17 pounds in the first week after giving birth, leaving only 5 pounds to lose.
i then GAINED another 7 pounds while BFing because i was SO hungry ALL the time!
i lost it all once i weaned.

I gained 45 lbs. I had severe swelling and gained a lot of water weight during the 3rd trimester. When I came home from the hospital, I was still very swollen. I had lost 15 lbs. Within the next few days, I lost another 15 lbs. Now, at 3.5 weeks post partum, I'm down 40 lbs, but my body is definitely different.

I lost about 12 lbs by the time I left the hospital with my first child. The way I figure it there's the actual weight of the baby, placenta, amniotic fluid and then water that is retained all being released in those first couple of days.

There also water & fluid weight and blood volume to be lost.
But the amount you lose is different for everyone. I remember weighing myself at home for the first time (could have been as much as 2 weeks later though since I was in the hospital for a while) and being 25lbs lighter.

I lost about 20-25 in the first week or two, and gained a total of about 45.
