How much weight does the abortion issue bear in your decision this November?

Example: 100% means you are Pro-Choice and will vote Democrat just because you are Pro-Choice and vice versa.

I voted just under 100% because I have voted Republican in the past but don't believe I would again, especially not in this election with ultra conservative Palin on the ticket and the chance that McCain could keel over and she'd then be president.

I am very much pro choice but I think that while the republican platform is pro life it's not every Republican's agenda to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Re: How much weight does the abortion issue bear in your decision this November?

I voted 71%-99%. I could never say 100% that it would be a reason for my decision, but I am hard core pro-choice and cannot ever see myself voting for someone who was pro-life. It is an extremely important issue to me. But I left that 1% because I'll never say never.

Re: How much weight does the abortion issue bear in your decision this November?

I put 51%. I'm not really sure what # my feelings equate to, but that seemed a good middle ground.

I'm pro-choice and i fully support gay marriage and think that it should be their right, not a privilege. But, I'm also fiscally conservative and believe in smaller government and capitalism over socialism.

While i would love to find a candidate that encompassed all of these same beliefs, when i vote in november, imo, i need to vote for the issues that affect ME the most. I believe every woman should have the right to make the decisions for her own body, i have people (family members) very close to me that are gay- as much as these issues weigh on my mind, too- when it comes down to it, they're not the issues that affect me the most.

So, i am 100% pro-choice, but it's not the priority issue when i vote.

I have a huge problem with a female, who might be 2nd in charge of our lovely country, who does not support women's issues. Close to 100%

For the first time, 100%. The more and more I think and pray about it, a country that allows us to kill babies through the six month of pregnancy, for me, has HUGE ramifications on not just the abortion issue, but rights for women, children, health care, schooling, and most importantly, our MORAL fibre as a nation. i think all the things the Dems want (and in many ways I support) are just conrtadicted when we allow abortion.

Please don't flame. I am just answering the post.

Exactly! I have never needed to use the ability to have one, but I would not wish a butcher abortion on ANYONE. I also think, as a woman, the government has no right to tell me what I can or cannot do with my body.
Make abortion illegal and I can see BCP being next.

Not sure. So far I like obama more than McCain but I'm pro life so it's a hard issue for me. I really and truthfully have no clue how much it impacts me..

it's a choice issue, not abortion issue.

I support choice 100%. I can't support policies that don't allow us to choose. The government should not be choosing what I do with my body.

I'm pro-choice, so i'm not challenging you here, but just playing devil's advocate and pointing out.... the govt tells you that you can't put illegal substances in your body, they make laws saying that you have to wrap a seatbelt around your body, and they also tell you that you can't sell your body for $$$.

I'm not saying it's right, by any stretch, but they do make decisions for your body.

Re: How much weight does the abortion issue bear in your decision this November?

I am staunch pro-choice, but am surprising myself by planning to vote for McCain. I'm even surprising myself with this.

I said that I would never vote for a pro-life president, but here I am... My reason is that the one thing that is more important to me than this issue is the issue of National Security and I think more Republican on that.

I am 100% Pro choice but i agree with all the points you made.

I guess for me i think it should be legal to get an abortion because not everyone is ready to be a mom, and women should at least have an option other than adoption.

Me personally i would never have an abortion but i dont care what other people do.

I like how you put this, because it is about CHOICE for one group of people and LIFE for another. I think, and it's been said before, that people need to remember that Pro-choice IS NOT pro-abortion or anti-life. However, I do see pro-life as being anti-choice.

It is not pro-death vs. pro-life. It is pro-CHOICE. Not every woman will take advantage of the choice but at least the choice is there.

Neenie, I do appreciate what you said, however, about the gov't making decisions about drugs and seat belts. Good point. I have no answer for that one.

Re: How much weight does the abortion issue bear in your decision this November?

I could definitely vote for someone who is pro choice IF I felt strongly about other issues that they support. BUT, I will admit, it WOULD be hard for me to go against something I believe in. It would be going against my morals, faith, values and emotions BUT in the end I am just that selfish and I want a better life for myself and my family. So if I thought a pro choice candidate could provide that in some way, I would probably vote for him or her.

I'd so around 50%. I pro-choice, but I feel that there are much bigger issues facing this country for that to be my #1 reason to be voting in this election.

I'm 100% pro-choice but would weight it at 51-70%.

It is an issue that I feel very strongly about, however there are many issues I feel need to be addressed by our new government (economy, Iraq, gay rights, etc).

When I vote, my abortion stance weighs in around 30% and all the other issues combined are the remaining 70%... right now.

Re: How much weight does the abortion issue bear in your decision this November?

I'd say 100% but only in the sense that it's not so much abortion (that is just one issue) but it's the general idea behind it: I strongly believe in the separation of church and state, and dont believe the government should restrict people's liberties based on conservative religious beliefs.

This translates to gay marriage, stem cell research and abortion which are all extremely important issues to me. If the whole "legislating my religious beliefs and imposing them on others" was no longer an issue, i don't know which candidate I would vote for. For now, this holds 100% of the weight for me. 100%.

I really like McCain, but I severely disagree with his abortion platform, and ESPECIALLY Palin's.

If it wasn't for that, I would probably be voting McCain/Palin.
