How Much Tummy Time..If Any For A 6 Week Old?
Are they really supposed to have tummy time at this point, I am clueless....

Yup, we started even earlier, like 2 or 3 weeks... I would do as much as they will tolerate and I would try to do it a bunch of times/day.

I always tried to put Hannah on her tummy even if its just for a few minutes. They generally don't like it, but its good for them and they get used to it.
When she was really young I would put her on her tummy on my chest - she liked that better and would do it for longer periods of time.
She loves it now!!!

same here. we would do it once or twice a day. u can pretty much see when they want to stop. we always did it on the boppy.

We started early too. Our doctor told us she needed 15 min a day. She really only could do 5 because she hated it. We also let her do most of it on us. Now I can't get her off her tummy.

We started it the first day DS was home from the hospital!  He didn't love it at first but he grew to.

My DD HATED tummy time! I started at about 2-3 weeks old, doc said to try for 15 mins a day, we got more like 2-5 minutes a day--

I feel that with Cailen, he only does about 30 seconds a day at 2 wks old - how do you work your way up?

The dr. told us 15 min. a day -- YEAH RIGHT - Katie screamed, so I did what I could, she is now 7 months old and loves being on her tummy rolling all over, not crawling yet, but almost there.

The only way I can really get her to stay on her tummy is to put her on mine or DH's chest.
I will keep trying and hopefully, she will get used to it a little more each day

I would just randomly put her on her tummy on her mat, changing table, the floor, I kinda snuck it in :)
I would roll her over when the fussing/grimacing face started.
DD as a newborn/young infant had awesome head/neck control so doc and us weren't so worried about the tummy time.
Didn't Cailen pick upself up on all fours and lift his head the other day?

I put DD on her tummy a few times a day... she lets us know when she doesn't want to be on it anymore....The ped told us to do this and she will build her neck and upper body muscles up sooner..
ETA DD is 3 1/2 weeks old

We were told to start the day we get home from the hospital. We would do it for a few minutes, a few times a day at first...then work up to longer periods.
Our son hated it (I think most babies do), until they are older and learn how to roll over.
It is very important to strengthen their neck muscles, gain head control, etc.
