How much pain were you in after your Retrieval?

So... It is now Sunday- Retrieval was on Friday, and I am still in a lot of pain... lots of aches...

They were worried about Ovarian Hyperstimulation so I am on a special diet and monitoring my pee pee and cannot drink over 1.5L of water a day.

I am totally following everything and even taking this Dostinex pill they gave me... but I am still in pain.

Is this normal? Or... should I be worried?

If you are in a lot of pain or feel nauseous, weak...anything..please call your RE.
I ended up in the hospital because of OHSS and you don't want to do that.

Are you drinking any Gatorade?
Are you monitoring your weight?

On my last IVF, we had 27 retrieved and we were also at a risk for OHSS- I was a little uncomfortable but not in actual pain.....Don't forget, retrieval is a some-what trauma to your body, so I would assume no matter what, you would feel something in that area.....They had me do the same- limiting my fluid intake and monitoring my urine and weight (you will see some people on the boards that are told to increase fluids, I was told to limit it) If you are really that uncomfortable I would give them a quick call to see what they say- On a some-what good note, they did tell me that if you do get pregnant, the effects of OHSS seem to be heightened (lets hope thats the case for you )

Hi-

I had 27 eggs retrieved during my fresh IVF cycle in 06'. I was in SO much pain that I wasn't able to stand up straight or walk normally w/o cringing. I DID NOT hyperstimulate and did a 5 day transfer. Just relax and give yourself a few more days to start feeling better.

I had 23 eggs retrieved and I had a lot of discomfort up until my transfer. The doctor thought I had OHSS but they checked me out and I didn't. The doctor said it was due to the # of eggs retrieved. I can imagine the pain you're in b/c you had so many more than me. Stick to what the doctor told you and if it gets worse then call the doctor again. Good Luck and great numbers.

I am drinking 12 oz of gatorade a day... I am only allowed 45 oz of liquids.

My pains are still pretty strong, they said Mild cramping and I don't consider this mild...

Do you think I should just show up at the Dr tomorrow morning? And explain my pain?

How do they check if I have the OHSS? Is it bloodwork? or Sonogram?

My doctor did an internal sonogram and checked the size of my ovaries and I think my uterus. Not sure exactly, but def. checked the size of my ovaries. I had bad cramping and it almost felt like severe gas on top of it. It hurt to walk, sit, and lie down.

YESSSSSSSSS! Thats exactly what it feels like! You totally made me realize... it feels like SEVERE GAS!

I think I am just going to go straight to the Dr. this morning.
