How many times a day? (daycare related)

How many times a day do you call to check on DC at daycare? Do you call the same time everyday?

DS just started daycare today Chat Icon

I made up my mind that I will only check in twice a day - that COULD change :)

I'm fortunate though, I work in the same business complex as the center so I plan on stopping by during my lunch hour. DS only goes 2 days a week.
I have to be careful not to become one of "those moms" lol!!

None, I have complete confidence in my daycare provider and the last thing they need is me calling twice a day to find out how my child is. Imagine if all the parents called twice a day, they would need someone full time just to answer that one phone line!!!

Re: How many times a day? (daycare related)

I dont call to check in at daycare. I did in the very beginning but I am so comfortable with them. They call me or DH even if he has a little scratch so I am not worried.

I dont' call either unless I know he might be having a rough day for some reason. And then it's only once after his nap.

Same here- They call me immediately if she is sick or teething and needs anything.

Re: How many times a day? (daycare related)

i only called them the first 2 days he was there (twice per day). I've never called to check in since.

This is just my opinion, and trust me there are many days when I sit at my desk at work and say to myself "i wish I could see what he was doing right now". However, I'd rather the daycare be tending to my child rather than answering phone calls from me and other parents just to see how he is. If he was feeling under the weather or there was a special circumstance that is different. Parents do have the right to check in on their kids no matter what. I just don't because I feel as if I am being a nuisance.

Another caveat is that I am talking about a daycare center here. My MIL watches my son 2 days a week and I probably call her at least 3 times a day because I do enjoy hearing about his day (we call it the play by play).

Same here. I pop over there once in a while, but not every day (they are very close to my work) because I'd rather finish my workload more quickly and get out a little earlier to pick her up. I rarely ever call just to check on her.

Re: How many times a day? (daycare related)

rarely, but I might call today to see how his new schedule is working out, because the morning lady isn't there when DH picks up DS...

Re: How many times a day? (daycare related)

MIL watches DD, so she's not at daycare. But I call once a day. And if MIL goes out with DD, she'll call me and let me know she's going out.

Never! I called in the beginning or when she was having a rough day, but I just don't feel the need. I know she's in good hands.
