I think that at one month Lucas was working on about 3 oz bottles - both formula and BM. While he could easily finish the formula, he would leave some of the BM behind so he might not have needed that much.

Thanks. Vincent has been BFing on me, with BM bottles and with Formula bottles .. I have been giving him 2-1/2 to 3 ounces in the bottle when I give him the bottle.
Yesterday he was insatiable and I was wondering if maybe I wasn't giving him enough. I am trying to pump/freeze also so I think I should up it a bit in each then too.
By the way, Lucas is beautiful. He has such a handsome face!

I had a piggy boy  and by 1 month old I think he was eating 4 oz every three hours (he was only formula fed..) He never seemed satisfied until we'd keep upping the ounces..
if you are finding that your DS is especially insatiable, he could be going through a growth spurt.. when they do that, it feels like they want to eat all day long!

Just about to say that as well. I was trying to think back and I do believe that at 4-5 weeks Lucas went through a growth spurt and we had to make 4oz bottles for him...he didn't always finish but we continued until he consistently left an oz behind...then we went back to 3oz. Shortly after that he went up to 3.5oz.

Noah was up to 4 oz's- 4 and 1/2 oz's continually at 4-5 weeks.

I would have to say he eats around 2 - 3 oz every 3 hours on average of BM.
