can't walk on it for 24 hours, and def. don't move in right away. Let the floors at least dry for a week. This happened to us and we still need to get them redone because we moved in the next day. Chat Icon But it does smell for awhile. Hopefully when you get it done it's not to hot & muggy out. It will take longer to dry. GL!

For ours, it took several days for them to finish the entire house & do the sanding, staining, and polyurethane (they did it little by little)... and then several days to dry... so we were out of the house a week and a half I think in total.

It took us about a week to be able to walk on them (they told DH 24 hrs after the last coat but, it was humid and took 3 days to dry - we too ruined our floors by walking on them - and then DH felt that maybe if we put plastic down on top it would work and it just made it worse).

5 days, start to finish

Monday, Sand all floors and stain.
Wed, poly all floors
Fri, poly again.

The stain smell literally took my breathe away. I could only stay in the house for like 2 mins. It hurt my chest.

we stayed in the house while it happened. The first day was sanding & screening, second day screen, third day screen and buff and we waited 24 hours to really walk on it but we did walk on it after 9 hours to get into our bedroom and into the kitchen and to the bathroom which is all connected to one hallway.

I would say 4-5 days

Our floor guy told us 3 days. We had the floors done before we moved in so we waited 3 days before walking on them and then about another week or so before we moved furniture in.

It took about a week - but we had them done before we moved in.
