How does your family treat your Upromise account?
How does you family feel about your Upromise account? Did they willingly contribute by entering their card info, or did they say they don't want to give out their info? Both my side and my husbands side won't sign up. I asked if they would at least sign up their Waldbaums cards if not their cc, and they still said they don't want to do it. I'm kinda peeved cause I feel that this is free help that will be compounded when the money gets transfered to his 529 account and they don't have to do anything excpet go about their everyday lives. And this is not some unmonitored sight with no security.

Re: How does your family treat your Upromise account?
Are there alot of other children in the family? Maybe they feel if they do for one, they have to do for all.
In our case, I haven't signed up yet but intend on doing so. I know my parents plan on connecting their credit cards, etc. to DS's account so they can help.

My mom is signed up. I'm not sure if she has both grandkids mentioned, but as long as she has it set up, we can always redirect the funds later on.

This is the only child in both families, so it's not about being equal.

My parents helped us out. We didn't even bother to ask DH's parents.

Re: How does your family treat your Upromise account?
Well, my Mom was already doing it for my nephews so I let it go. We asked my FIL who uses his grocery cards. MIL didn't want to contribute, not even grocery cards.
Ummmm.....thanks.

Re: How does your family treat your Upromise account?
Do they get how it works and that its' totally safe and not connected to any of their accounts? (if they use the grocery store cards etc) I plan on asking my parents to let me sign them up and I'll be pretty annoyed if they don't agree...it's free money and I can't see any reason they wont want to help out once I show them how it works.

My parents gave us their store card #'s. My parents have our password so if they are shopping on-line they just go on as if they are me.

Fully supportive.
They were hesitant at first, wondering if the site was safe, but I talked them through it.

Re: How does your family treat your Upromise account?
I think a lot of older people (even my parent's generation, which is not much older) are skeptical of things like that. Giving out their info on the internet. companies watching your purchases, etc. We don't understand it, but then again they don't understand why we are so willing to give out our info.
