Re: How do you make roast beef?

Sprinkle it with salt, pepper, garlic powder and bake in the oven.

With things like this I just think it's easier to go simple and it comes out great.

Re: How do you make roast beef?

I usually crush garlic in a garlic press and rub it on the meat (my mom actually makes slits on the meat and stuffs some in there. ... salt & pepper, and shake a bit of "Maggy" or some other liquid meat tenderizor (in the spice aisle).

DH does garlic like above and rubs mustard over it and it's really good too.

What kind of beef do you buy? I never know what the real name on the sticker is.

I just put salt, pepper and garlic powder on it and bake it in the oven---

I recently bought a different cut from the butcher called silver tip that was delicious. My DH who is not a huge fan of roast beef dinner (and it is one of my faves) loved it too. It made a great gravy too!

I bought eye round...

Ok- I took a little of everyones advice and I put it in the oven-

From the info I found it looks like its gonna take 45min/ lb to cook...

I bought gravy master to make gravy from the drippings- but the damn thing has been in the oven for an hour and a half and BARELY has any drippings Chat Icon

Also- my mom just told me I should be cooking this thing fat side up- BUT the roast refuses to lay that way- so its fat side down-

Is that donna effect its cooking time? taste? Is that why I have no drippings???

TIA

Re: How do you make roast beef?

You should be cooking it fat side down. That's where you get the drippings from. You should also put a little bit of olive oil in there too.
