They actually have changing stations in those little bathrooms. It's a fold down table above the toliet.

whatever you do...don't throw out the diaper by throwing it in the flight attendents trash bag...they acted like I was going to be arrested. She yelled at me for contaminating the plane.

I thought trash was trash...guess I was wrong.

I did it in the bathroom with that pull down thing - I didn't even know they had one, and the flight attendant informed me as I was walking into the bathroom - she must have seen me look perplexed - I was like thank GOD!!!!

The pull-down tray is insanely small. For my 18 month olds, I closed the lid of the toilet and changed them on my lap in the bathroom. It's the most awkward thing to do on the plane and I only do it if it is an emergency.

I just wanted to say NOT ALL planes have this and I had to change DD's diaper on the floor (yes the floor in the galley next to the bathrooms. THANK GOD they gave me a blanket to put under the changing pad that I had Chat Icon ) on the flight from Phoneix to Kona, Hawaii.

Ummm yeah, THAT was pleasant. Thank you United! Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: How do you change a dirty diaper on a plane?

The pull down things are VERY small...and try to avoid it during turbulence!

I had a 5 month old with a VERY stinky/messy diaper, trying to hold her, and not fall into the toilet myself!!

BTW - you'll think I'm nuts, but DD likes to sleep flat on her tummy, so we had to get creative since we didn't buy a seat for her......a big fluffy blanket spread over the snack tray made a great bed!!! Chat Icon

Re: How do you change a dirty diaper on a plane?

SOME planes have the pull down tray. If they don't, ask the flight attendants where the best place would be. I always allowed parent to use the floor of the galley (I provided blankets).

Another word of advice- DON'T throw the diaper away in the bathroom garbage. Just ask the flight attendant where they'd like you to throw the diaper away- they'll likely take it and put it in a separate bag. I also always gave parents a garbage bag to put the stinky diapers in (that I would close up and THEN put in the garbage)- as it's UNBELIEVABLE how much one diaper can stink up a galley.

Re: How do you change a dirty diaper on a plane?

i had to change her on the seat next to me on one flight, nice...
on another I had to change her on top of the toilet on a changing pad, was a nightmare...
None of the planes we have been on had the changing table, I could not believe it...
