How do Crocs run size-wise compared to Stride Rite?

How do Crocs run size-wise compared to Stride Rite?
DS wears an 8/8.5 W in Stride Rite shoes.
I see the Crocs sizing described on the website as C8/9, which is the equivalent of 5.8-6.1 inches in foot length
This sounds big to me.
Do they run big/small/true to size? Good for fatty, fatty, chubba toddler feet?

my DD has fred flintstone feet and crocs were perfect for her..

They run big, so if your child wears 8.5 then the 8-9 will be fine. And they run a bit wide to begin with, so that shouldn't be an issue either.
