How did you find your lactation consultant?

How did you find your lactation consultant?
I don't live on LI anymore, but did you go through your hospital? La Leche? International Lactation Consultant Association? What designations should they have?

NSUH Manhasset sent me home with a pamphlet and I got mine off there. I have also contacted LaLeche recently and found someone in the next town over who was very helpful. HTH

I did go through the hospital, but laleche too can give you ones in your area, also my pediatrician gave me some.

My birth instructor recommended the one I used. Mine was a pediatrician who specializes in BFing, does house calls and takes insurance.
They should be certified IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant).
I would contact your local LLL and see if they have someone that they recommend.
