I just heard a great way.

The family was together for coffee and the DH said let me take a picture of everyone. Gather around Mary.

Then he said "1,2,3 say Mary's Pregnant"

Everyone said it and they all flipped out.

I thought that was such a great way

I went to doc. and then flew to my inlaws, told them during dinner, flew to my sisters, told her, then waited for my dad to get home (he works nites) and told him and my mom.

Wasnt anything great but we couldnt hold it in too long.

At Thanksgiving dinner DH got up tosay a few words before we ate. He thanked his mom and everyone who made something for the food and said how nice it was to have everyone together. Then he said the only thing is...next year we're going to need a bigger table - or at least room for one more because Ang is pregnant!

My FIL and SIL started crying and everyone was congratulating us. It was reall sweet.

We got our photo albums just after getting the BFP. We put the sonogram pictures on the last page of the album & then showed it to our immediate families.

On thangsgiving we wrote out onto a cake Baby B-V coming June 2007.

We told our families on Christmas. We wrapped up "I love Grandma and Grandpa" bibs and let them open it. They were so shocked and everyone was crying... it was really cool.

We gave our Parents cards that said "Merry Christmas Grandma and Grandpa" and then wrote "we're pregnant!" on the inside...we had them open them at our big family dinners on Christmas Eve....

we bought bibs that say I love Grandma and I love Grandpa and put them in gift bags. This was about 4 weeks after we got back from our honeymoon so we told them it was a "gift" we brought back from Hawaii

Well, I'm about the same # of wks as you Bella, so I was planning to give our parents a gift or maybe just a card for valentine's day that says make room in your heart for baby C. due in September & include a sono picture. By then I'll be about 10.5 wks

I gave my mom a poem and we told ILs just normally. Everyone else, I wore the "Jingle belly, jingle belly, baby on the way" shirt from preggers and proud and waited to see when people read it. It was fun

Awww, these are all such nice ideas and stories!

I was terrible. I was pretty straightforward with my family: "Are you sitting down? I have some news..."

With my friends, however, I just said the following:

"Guess who's knocked up?"

Yes, I am awful.

I found this great picture frame today that says "Grandkisses...Grandcuddles...Grandchild" or something like that and I think I'll put an ultrasound picture in it that I had taken today. I'm not sure when I'll break the news though.

We went over to my parents house and I brought them flowers. We gave them a funny card and wrote in the card that they were going to be grandparents. Dad burst out the champagne right away (my parents keep champagne in the fridge all the time in case of spontaneous reasons to celebrate anything!) and mom started crying. Then we all went out to dinner.

We told our parents first. We had closed on our house the day before, so we invited them over for breakfast and during breakfast, we gave each set of parents a card. We told them it was a thank you for helping us through the house-buying process .
I made the cards though, and they said "Happiness is...." on the front, and "...being a grandparent!" on the inside.
It took them a minute to figure it all out, but once they did, they were very excited.
The rest of the family, we just kin of told.....my brother thought it was a joke while his fiance started screaming....they were funny!
