How can I get a copy of the deed to the house
Help
I need to get a copy of the deed to my house and I don't know where to start?????

When did you purchase it? You should get a copy in the mail within 4-6 months after purchasing, I thought.
We closed in Sept and still don't have it, though.

We closed in April, but never got the deed, and I wnated to file the STAR app

It should be on file with your local town hall or city hall.

Are you in Suffolk or Nassau? DH had to get a copy of the deed for his parent's house, and he needed to go to Riverhead.

While I don't know about getting the deed, I filed for STAR without one. I brought my closing paperwork with me and there was some kind of transfer document that they used.
I'd call them first to find out though before making the trip.

Call your town - they'll tell you what to do, and if you need it for STAR.

Contact your local town hall and I believe the assessor's office holds the copies for you to get one.
