How are the roads so far today (Saturday)???

The LIE was OK but local roads still had a covering where I am in Suffolk...The snow outside our home is covered in about an inch of ice--I fell 3 times going to my car, and spent over a half hour chipping at the ice on my car before I could get the windows clear.

Unless I absolutely had to get to class this morning, I never would have bothered. It was just horrible. I was covered in sweat after a half hour of chipping away at ice and falling down when I tried to walk around the car.

I worked on my car with the defrosters and heat on from 7:15 - 8 am. I was able to get out of my driveway and got to work because the Southern State was empty and the plow was in front of us.

I think they are pretty bad... DH is a technician for GE and they closed today due to the conditions  which we are thrilled about since he still gets his OT pay

So is the Southern State better than LIE from Suffolk?
I just saw LIE is closed at exit 50.
I need to go from Hauppauge to Farmingdale by 1 pm for my friend's wedding.
