I always read they are right within a pound either way. Mine was right on target with my son. My SIL on the other hand was off by at least a couple pounds!! they said her baby was close to 11lbs and she was 8.5!!

My doctor's office doesn't even do them because they say they can be up to a pound off.

Re: How accurate are the weight/growth sonos?

well I had my growth sono 12 days before my induction date and they were estimating DD to be 8lb, 3oz....

When I asked the Dr. how much she could gain between that time and the induction, he said about 12-15 ounces, so that would have brought her up to 8lb, 15oz - 9lb, 2oz

DD was born at 9lb, 8oz so I say they were pretty accurate...I would say between 1/2 to 1 pound off either way

While they can be accurate they have I think and error of +1 or -1 pound.

I was surprised that mine the day before I delivered was within 2 ounces of the baby's birth weight...

I did not get a groth sono with my 2nd baby. THe Dr' felt my belly and said she will be around 7lbs 3 ounces. She was 6lbs 15 ounces.

But they do say they can be off a pound either way.
