holy cr@p.... getting stuff for the little bean...

first time soon-to-be mom here...
it's phenomenal how much stuff one little being could need Chat Icon

While I micromanaged the bridal registry with much flair and efficiency... I'm clueless with the baby registry... I don't even know what I need Chat Icon I'm researching all the 'must have lists'... it's stunning. way too much stuff for our apartment. I'm also skeptical that all these items truly are 'must haves'. Chat Icon I know my mom didn't have nearly this much stuff for me....

I'm glad I peeked at what I must select so early on... it will be truly daunting.

any other first trimester first-time moms even think about the registry yet?

It can be overwhelming but I also felt that a lot of the "must have" stuff really is not a must have. They make you feel like you are going to be an awful parent if you don't get all this stuff. Try to sort through it and ask people if they really used certain things.

yeah, it just reminds me of how our life will do a 180 the second we come back home from the hospital... soooo much to learn...

(I was just reading breast pump and bottle sterilizer reviews... and trying to visualize how they will be encorporated into our lives...)

I felt the same way. Get the Baby Bargains book- it has SAVED me. It literally rates EVERY baby product out there and it tells you what is cr*p and what is a good buy. Everything from crib mattresses to diapers to bottles to breast pumps. Without that book, I would have been lost when we made our registry.

Also, when we registered I found I was asking alot of moms who I saw around the store about specific produts. They were more than helpful and eager to give their opinion. For example, I saw a mom pushing around the travel system we liked. I asked her how her DC liked it and how it was getting in and out of the car. BRU and BBB are crawling with experienced moms.

Chat Icon Don't get scared! The answers are out there.

I won't register until I'm in my 6 month most likely, but my BF is going to help me since she just had a little one just over a year ago. She said there is so much stuff you really don't need!
