Help with my 2.5 year old schedule...

Help with my 2.5 year old schedule...
DS has been on the same schedule for a while:
Wake 6am
Nap 12:30-3ish
Bed 7pm
Lately he has been staying up late talking in his crib and now in his bed---he is obviously tired before bed, gets lots of exercise, etc. Last night he didn't fall asleep until 9pm and was telling me he was tired at 10am this morning. I put him down for a nap at noon. I feel like this is a vicious cycle though, he sleeps great for a few days, then stays up late for a few days and gets super overtired. Would you change his schedule at all? Any suggestions? I have been guilty of letting him stay up a little late to see his daddy (no later then 8pm) at times, but no more then once a week bc he gets overtired the next day..

I would try shortening his nap to see if that helps....

DD's schedule is the same as yours except she goes to bed at 8pm.
