HELP! FINALLY printing invites for DH's surprise party, but need to change wording!!!!
Help! Having a surprise party for DH's 30th.
Was going to have an open bar, but just talked with the bartender (who is a good friend of DH's) and he suggested NOT doing an open bar b/c people will go crazy and it will cost me $. He suggested just providing food and having the guests pay- 99% of DH's friends toss a $20 on the bar when they go out.
How should I word th invites w/o being cheesey? I want to get the following points across...
1-It's a surprise
2-He's turning 30
3-Food will be provided
4-Drinks are not free

Is there a way to work an open bar into your price per head at the place you are having it? My DD and DS's Birthday Party it worked out to just spend the extra money and have the open bar form everyone. Just a thought, something to look into. Sorry I had no other advice.

I cannot seem to get a straight answer on the cost for an open bar from DH's friend. I was talking with him (the friend) earlier and he said alot of people (and he knows most of the people who will be there) will hear/see open bar and go crazy.
The party is going to be AT a bar and the friend said he'll hook me up, not charge me to have the party there, and all I'm paying for is food (hero) and cake.
At this point, I am not sure what to do as the party is 4 weeks from Saturday. I am ALMOST at the point of just having the party at a restaurant, but then I have to shell out money that i wasn't planning.

i just did this for my dh all i paid for was the food and brought my cake.. we had it at margaritas on bell.. dh knows the brothers that own it. he told me the same...... cash bar!!! stick to what your doing and they pay for there own drinks!!! everyone was more than fine

We have planned out a bash
On that particular date
Join us at the 30 th birthday party of ….( name of the person) !!
