The thought of registering is sooo overwhelming and we want to be sure to register for stuff that we will actually use...so...could you ladies recommend your list of "must-haves" and favorite products for a clueless new mommy-to-be??
Thanks so much!!

-baby swing (couldn't have done it without one)
-triple paste diaper rash cream (its relatively expensive but AMAZING, pop it on there)
-changing pad covers (have at least 2)
-play mat/activity floor center (this was great for tummy time)

I loved the little baby emergency kit... it had the nose sucker ball thingy majiggy... nail clippers, brushes, etc in it. I loved it and still use it to this day!

I loved the wipes warmer..although I wish it held more wipes

the boppy!Chat Icon Chat Icon

our LO slept with us in our bed often, so we got this special little thingy for babies to sleep in, and they sleep in it between you and your SO

Re: Help a new mommy-to-be == New baby must-haves

I've only been a mommy for 3 months but I've realized I can't live without:

-the nap nanny. DD doesn't have acid reflux or colic (thank goodness), but it is great to travel with when we have sleepovers at grandma's house. Plus she loves to nap in it during the day!

-the FP bouncer (she naps in it every morning and in fact she is in it right now!)

-City Mini stroller - it's so light and compact, and a very smooth ride. You can get an attachment for the bucket carseat too. I hated the snap and go stroller for the carseat.

-Dundee diaper burp cloths...best absorbency (sp?)

-Graco pack n play (with the changing table and bassient on top). DD has been sleeping in the bassinet part of the pnp every night for 3 months.

-Medela pump

-Dr. Brown's bottles

-Boppy

I'll see what else I can think of...

ETA:

-Swaddle Me (with the velcro). DD is swaddled every night in these and sleeps SO soundly. So much easier than swaddling blankets.

-Cloud B giraffe...we use it for white noise every night.

I think BRU and those sites have a registry helper that you can see all the categories. But i'll tell you the main "big" items I used and recommend are...

Swing (FP little lamb)
Bouncer (FP precious planet)
Pack n Play (chicco lullaby playard)
Jumperoo (FP precious planet)
Car seat (Chicco keyfit 30)
Stroller (Baby Jogger City Mini)

ETA: and the Snap N Go!!! How could I forget that!

Re: Help a new mommy-to-be == New baby must-haves

baby swing (I have the FP one that plugs into the wall - helps so much since everything else takes batteries)

FP Newborn to Toddler Rocker (DD is almost 2 1/2 and still uses it)

Tiny Love Mobile (it has a remote control and you can detach the mobile part once they are older and you still have the music box to use)

Snap N Go (this was a lifesaver and so easy to use and so light)

playmat/activity mat

exersaucer or jumperoo

crib sheet saver - get 2 and you can layer them on top of each other - changing the crib sheets is a PITA and this is a lifesaver - not pretty, but gets the job done!

Aquaphor lotion - use it everywhere

Re: Help a new mommy-to-be == New baby must-haves

Here's some things I've found invaluable:

---really big diaper bag
---small diaper bag
---white noise machine
---fisherprice rock & play sleeper
---cloth diapers for burpcloths and a
million other uses, lol
---video monitor (I have Mobi digital)
---swaddles (miracle blanket,
swaddleme, woombie)
---crib wedge
---humidifer
---digital clock for the baby's room
---comfy rocker/glider for baby's room
---onsies both long & short sleeve
---baby bathtub
---white socks
---tons of washcloths
---5 to 7 hooded towels
---sleep & plays with cuffs on the wrist
---sleep "gowns" with elastic bottoms &
cuffs on wrist
---sleep sacks
---flogged camel color childrens slim hangers from BBB. (super thin and grip the clothes so they don't fall off! I have 110 of them all filled with clothes!)
---toys (swing,bouncer, playmat, rattles,
teethers,slanted mirror....)
---lightest infant carseat you can find
---really good stroller(I have the
inglesina zippy & I love it)
---snap & go
---small bottle drying rack
---six 8 to 9 oz bottles, four 5 to 6 oz
bottles(wait 2 see what your baby
likes before you buy a lot of one
brand, mine loves bornfree hates
dr.browns)
---I use RTF formula so I love my bottle warmer that I leave in my bedroom for middle of the night feedings. I have a colonial so I hate going downstairs for a bottle.
---also infant CPR course was helpful as was the Happiest Baby on the Block & Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child.
----muscles & extra arms (my baby loves
to be carried around!)

Absolutely necessary stuff (at 2-3 weeks):

Car seat

Snap n go

Shirts with little hand covers (get these in a slightly bigger size: 3 months not newborn)

Crib or pack n play with newborn sleeper

Vibrating seat (for when you need to shower)

Breast pump (I really needed one when supplementing for breast feeding...) and bottles, drying rack.

Diapers

Nipple cream

Nipple pads for when you start to leak.

Nursing bra

Nursing tank top (this is a really great invention... I'm buying a few more).

Baby butt cream (I use A&D with zinc oxide every time) plus cotton makeup pads to apply

Washcloths (we double them as burp pads)

Diaper genie (really... it is a great thing. I leave one by baby at all times so that I don't have to walk to kitchen with garbage). It really doesn't smell.

I'm sure other stuff will become important in due time... but I can probably survive the 1st month with above.
