Heart Shaped Uterus- totally freaking out
I went to the Dr.'s on Friday b/c I was having some spotting. While doing a sono, the Dr. told me I have a heart shaped uterus. (Can't even say the technical name for it)
Does anyone else have this?
He said it's a birth defect w/ me... and that 1. I could go into pre-mature labor 2. need a C-Section or 3. Nothing, and everything would be normal.
Right now, they're testing to make sure the baby is not in the uterine wall, b/c if it is, I could die. OMG, I'm totally freaking out!!!

Is it bi-cornuate?
Is there a septum?
I have a slight dip in the top of my ute, but I had an MRI and I don't have a septum...

My mom's friend's daughter has a heart shaped uterus and both of her daughters were born premature. One was born at 28 weeks and the other at 31 weeks (just last week, actually).
Thankfully the first born is four now and strong and smart and happy. And the new baby was big enough when she was born that all looks good.

OHHHH is this bad? When I went for my Pre TTC check up and they did a sonogram, my OB said I have a beautifully heart shaped uterus...Didnt say it was bad.......

My sister in law has this. She has had 4 children. They were all born by c-section. I do believe the doctor's watched closely at the end to make sure their size wasn't getting to big. They were all born on time and as healthy as can be.
Try not to get too freaked out until you know all the facts. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor questions or ask for another opinion.

My Dr.'s main concern was that the pregnancy is in my uterine wall. So, he sent me to a radiologist for that. He said if it is, I'd have to terminate the preganacy, as I could die if I didn't.
After I heard that- the heart shaped uterus thing went out the window. I'll be asking a MILLION questions once they call me with the results of the above. I'll let you all know what he says.
Apparently, he did say it was common and one of 3 things could happen. I could go into pre-mature labor.... 2. I would need a C-Section or 3. nothing, and I could deliver when I'm suppose to w/ a VD. Who knows????
I"m glad the premie babies are OK.

I think I have what you describe. My doctor never used the term "heart-shaped" but he did say it was "split" and desribed it as having an indent of sorts (which sounds like what you describe). When I first got pg he mentioned something about an ectopic pregnancy but once I went for my first sono, it didn't come up again. My doctor also said that I may deliver early because of it and that they'd have to watch me towards the end (I'm 9 weeks tomorrow), having it increases my chance of needing a c-section, and he also said it could mean absolutely nothing! So I guess my point is, you're not alone.

Got the results from the Radiologist Report..
Basically, it says the baby is fine, THANK GOD!!
He said as far as the Heart Shaped situation, that he'd just have to monitor me more closely, that's all. Apparently, this is somewhat common!

My mom has this. Don't worry too much- with me, she was 10 days late and had a C-section, but she had a VBAC with my brother and he was 6 days late. Good luck!

My friend has a heart shaped uterus. Her first child was born at 28 weeks (he's a perfect 4 year old now). Her second child she went to 38 weeks. She didn't have to go on bedrest either.
