He climbed out of his crib - again
Nothing like hearing that loud "thud" and then the crying and screaming that follows. We put those interlocking foam letter squares on the floor so it helped cushion his landing. I think he flipped over the rail because when he landed, his head was by the crib and his feet were away from it. I guess he forgot how it felt when he did this eight months ago (he's 19 months old now). Thankfully he's okay. We decided not to go with the crib tent and I tried talking DH into the toddler bed but he won't go for it yet. Hopefully the memory of this time will last another eight months (hopefully he'll be in his toddler bed by that time).

So you have a littel spider man. I was lucky - Sammy didn tclimb out until he was about 2 1/2. ANyway, they do sell a mesh crib tent so your little one will not climb out anymore. It is safe. They have it at BRU

I'm glad he's okay at least!
Oh my goodness, I'm SO worried that Christopher will start doing this soon. He's such a little monkey and climbs everything right now.

Re: He climbed out of his crib - again
My son climbed out of the bed at 15 months and we bought a toddler bed the next day and he is fine with it. I would give it a shot, he can seriously hurt himself.

Re: He climbed out of his crib - again
Caiden only climbed out once and that thud and screaming was enough for us! He was 20 months old and he was in a twin bed shortly after! He did great with it and he loved it!

Re: He climbed out of his crib - again
I keep trying to talk DH into the toddler bed with the guards on the side, but so far no luck. I hope he changes his mind. I know that the first time this happened and Jesse was only 11 months old, he was too young. But he's almost 20 months now and I think he can sleep in the bed. Wish me luck that I can convince him!

I agree. Somethings are worth arguing about, somethings are not. This is a non-negotiable issue. It's the one time you don't want to say "I told you so."
I would buy the bed or take the crib mattress on the floor if you can't spring for the bed.

Re: He climbed out of his crib - again
I wouldn't wait for the bed, DS first got out at 15 months and the thrill wore off.
He started again at 20 months and in the next few weeks we got a twin bed and took down the crib. (putting a mattress on the floor wasn't enough for him because he liked to climb back in too!)
He was totally fine in his bed, he loved it!

Re: He climbed out of his crib - again
Maybe you can convince him to get the bed that we got for my son. It's a really cool guy bed! We got him the blue twin race car bed. We got it off of craigslist used. We love the bed. The sides of it are higher than the mattress. Caiden has yet to fallen out of it. But at least if he did it wouldn't be as far of a fall. You can tell him, "How would you feel if your son keeps climbing out of the bed and accidentally breaks his arm or something?" A bed wouldn't be so bad.
Good luck!

I would go out and buy the bed, put it up and don't say a word to your husband! He will probably just love being in his big boy bed!

Re: He climbed out of his crib - again
Jack's been in a toddler bed since 17 months without any problems.
A good friend's daughter broke her Leg climbing out and my youngest BIL broke his collarbone.
I'd just buy a toddler bed you can get them for under 100 bucks and reuse the same mattress. I'd just buy it.
I'm suprised your husband is somewhat aganist getting one set up. My husband was so happy setting it up because in his eyes it meant Jack was a real toddler and in his opinion alot funnier of an age for a Dad.
