Have never planted flowers ..EVER...need help/advice

I would love to plant some flowers infront and in the backyard...what do I need (besides the flowers )

I love to put hostas in (will come back yearly) & are a good filler.

Day lilies are another flower that come back yearly & are green for the most part but spark nice vibrant yellow flowers.

In my front garden I have those reddish/purplish cabbage things that also add depth & stay through the winter...

Make sure you know what type of "sun/shade" mixture you have. The first year in our house, we had some plant failures bc I was not too sure.

Along w/ all of the above, you will need some good potting soil. I like to add some to the regular soil when I am planting for the nutrients.

Depending on what I am planting, sometimes I sprinkle Peat Moss on the bottom of the hole I have dug (helps retain moisture for the plant I think).

Also - you might want to pick up some Miracle Gro too!

And gardener's gloves to save your nails!
