Has anyones DC had to have their umbilical (belly button) hernia fixed?

Has anyones DC had to have their umbilical (belly button) hernia fixed?
If so, can you share how it went--I am most concerned with recovery and how to keep my very active 4 year old from running all over the place until it heals.

Not yet but I am very curious about this. My 21 month old DD has one. Every time we go to the doctor, he says its getting better but it looks exactly the same. It sticks out so much. I know it's vain, but it really bothers me. I wish they would do the surgery sooner.

my nephew got it done a few months ago. he is 4. he was in a little pain the first few days so that stopped him from running around. he kind of understood the whole process. after the first few days though he was back to his normal self and its healing quite well. i think your DS will be ok during the beginning of recovery bc he wont be in the moo dto jump around
