Has anyone purchased a new volkswagen recently?

I am interested in a VW & went to a dealership last night just "to look" & the salesman seemed very adamant that they do not negotiate prices. We didn't even talk pricing but I'm like

My sister recently traded in her VW beetle and leased a new beetle. They were able to negotiate a very good montly payment and they were able to negotiate the dealership paying what she owed on the car she was trading in.

Sounds like you got a stubborn sales person.

Yeah, sounds like it. I'll have to go to another location - we've only been to one.

my sister did- she went through an approved buying program and they negotiated the deal for her but I never heard of VW not negotiating- I thought that only Saturn did that

I just sold my 5 year old Passat due to frequent problems with the engine and emissions system. When I bought it, I did negotiate but it was the end of the model year, spring.

If reliability is a concern for you, I would check ConsumerReports.org. The report for my old car was pretty dismal in comparison to other vehicles.

If you're near Hicksville, check out Lenny Siper at Sovereign. He was good to us when we bought our car, I'm not sure if he's still there.
