I still have the bottle of champagne DH & I drank when we got engaged. I always wanted to do something with it, but I can't come up with anything. TIA for any suggestions!

How to Make a Wine Bottle Water Fountain

1.
Step 1

Wash All Materials. Rocks, marbles, wine bottles, and pumps likely have some residue which could cause problems when the fountain is complete.
2.
Step 2

Make Hole in Bottle. The water will flow up through the bottom of the bottle. Using the technique of your choice, make a smallest possible hole at the bottom of the bottle. This project used a punch and hammer to break through.
3.
Step 3

Patch Hole to Size of Pump. Unless the hole made in step two was precisely the size of the pump's output, the hole will need to be patched. This project used an old plastic bottle cap with sized hole and 100% silicone caulk.
4.
Step 4

Install Pump; Place Bottle Into Pot. The pump is installed through the bottom of this patch. Put the bottle and pump together at the bottom of the 1-2 liter pot. The bottle must be tipped to one side. The cord to the pump goes up and over the side of the pot.
5.
Step 5

Fill Pot With Rocks (and Marbles). From larger rocks to smaller ones, fill the container while holding the bottle. When thecks have filled half of the container, let go of the bottle--the bottle will no longer move. Fill the rest of the container with smaller rocks or colored marbles.
6.
Step 6

Add Water. Without turning the pump on, pour clean water into the pot, watching to make sure water flows up through the bottle. Fill the pot nearly to its brim.
7.
Step 7

Activate Pump! Water should flow completely into the bottle before flowing over and back down onto the rocks.
8.
Step 8

Optional: Add Foliage to Cover Power Cord. Here has been added some fake fruit to add to the aesthetic value of the pump. The power cord can hide behind the foliage and be forgotten.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up making a lamp out of it. I'll have to take pictures and post them.
