Has anyone lost Health Insurance while PG?
DH lost his job and we currently have no health insurance. I have less then 75 days left and am a bit nervous. We are working on possibly taking the Cobra but it is soooo expensive. Any advice?

I am not sure if you work and if you can take your insurance? If not....what about getting insurance through Healthy New York? There is very specific requirements...

hi, sorry to totally crash this board  i saw suze orman on oprah the other day talking about ways to get your COBRA costs reduced. i'm not sure if this applies to you but figured it's worth posting....here's the link: cobra reduction HTH!

You could always try Cinergy Health insurance, they cover pregnancy even if you are already pregnant and are affordable.

when i was thinking about moving back to NY, we would have no insurance right away and I looked into NY state PCAP. It is like medicare...you pay nothing.

I was going to suggest the same thing. It definately will lower the premiums and you don't have to worry about things that you would with a new plan...i.e. does your dr. participate

I believe they just passed a law starting March 1 where companies are required to pay 65% of your cobra coverage. I would call and ask about it.

Well... as per the Cobra department in my husbands Union, the stimulus package has not been put into effect as of yet. So we would have to pay $1407 for the family plan for the month and when the stimulus goes into effect we will get credited towards the next month.
Very frustrating. I'm nervous about switching to the NYS plan this late in the game.. do I suck it up and pay the $1407???

Do you have any options through your job? I'd probably just pay the $1400 rather than risk having a lapse or having to change doctors.
