hardwood floors or tile? WWYD?

I'm opening up the kitchen so its a great room with the dining room and living room. the DR and LR have unfinished beautiful 2 toned hardwood floors. So i was thinking of adding hardwood to the kitchen to keep it one big space. but i know its going to be a lot more money because the contractor has to match the floor and then finish the new new floor and DR and LR floor which will take at least 3 days. but he did say because its 2 toned they'll have to sand it down and stain it so it all matches.

should i just do tile to make it easier and keep the original floor color? Or put the hardwood down so the room flows with the same flooring? WWYD?

I would just tile, we have tile in the kitchen and wood in the DR and Den and honestly I'm nervous to have hardwood in the kithcen with all the spills and cooing etc...I looove the look but was scared to do it

I have wood in my kitchen and I haven't had any problems. I just have a little mat in front of the sink.

Look into the new wood-look tile. They come in 4" and 6" widths and various "wood shades". You might find a close match to your existing floor and not worry about spills etc
