great- I failed the 3 hour- updated

Now what?
how long is it going to take for them to tell me what to do. I refuse to eat fake sugars- but what about carbs- do I now not eat those too?

update: the nurse called me back last night at 10pm Chat Icon good thing I was still awake! Anyway- i'm going in today at 12.30 to get the script for the monitor finger thingy (ewe) and we're going to go over the "diet"... she said most of the time diet gets it under control- and i have to come in again in like a week, week and a half to go over the blood sugar #s- if they don't stabilize, then I have to go on meds.

Re: great- I failed the 3 hour

i'm really not that bummed ....
i'm more bummed about how long it took to find out.

but really- this is probably a blessing since diabetes does run in my family- and I should probably adopt a more healthy eating, blood-sugar friendly diet- even after the baby is born

They will have you meet with a dietician. Try to limit your carbs until you see her. I had GD too.

If you need any help at all FM me. I had GD with Damien and now am a diabetic. You should be able to control it with your diet. They will tell you the amount of carbs you can eat for each meal. They diet takes some getting used to but it is definitely doable. The finger pricking stinks but you get used to that too. Did they say how many times a day you need to check?

thank you.
no, she hasn't gone into the details yet- I have to go at 12.30 today for the diet/details.

Hopefully this is a blessing in disguise to get me smart about my eating again.

Sorry to hear that, but like you said, maybe it's a small blessing since diabetes runs in your family. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

back from doc
diet doesn't seem that bad- if anything I'll be eating MORE food.
I have my scripts and I'm prepared to do this and be healthy!

I'm glad you are staying positive! I'm sure it's not as bad as you anticipated and once you get the hang of it, it will be a breeze!
