good news: what I heard from a CDC woman about swine flu this morning on CNN
just in case some of you moms do NOT have babies that wake you for a feeding at 630am  ... or (more likely) you don't watch CNN while feeding....
Some gov't official (either a CDC woman or a HHS woman) was interviewed and gave the latest info on swine flu....
She said that the CDC sequenced the viral RNA, and this particular H1N1 virus has mutated to become LESS virulent
 She said due to these mutations, it is extremely unlikely that people could catch it by coughing on each other. Also, she said the swine flu should NOT make a person sick like the avian flu or like the dire cases originally indentified in mexico. It would be a rather 'mild flu' at best.
She also said that the reason why Mexico had so many cases, and so many deaths was becuase they didn't have the technology to completely ID this virus. In reality, a lot of the 'swine flu cases' and deaths in mexico were actually several other diseases...
She then cautioned that we merely 'lucked out'... and that the US must make radical changes in the way pig, cow, and chicken farms handle and house animals... becuase next time, the odds are high that the disease will be extremely lethal (like the avian flu in asia).
Since I heard this eary in the AM, I'm trying to find this info from another news source... If I heard everything correctly, it would be very good news indeed.

Thank you so much for posting this. I really needed to hear this right now....I have been hearing that they do think it's not genetically like the flu of 1918 and may not become so...
I have been hearing similar good news all day but for everyone not to forget to KEEP up the good work with handwashing, gels, etc b/c they still can't be sure what will happen if it returns in the fall.
