Good Citizen lesson plan help K-1

I am teaching my kindergarten and first grade class about the characteristics of a good citizen (at home, school and the community).

Kindergarten?

First grade
I was thinking of making something like a citizen tree where the they would write on the leaves how they can be a good citizen in the areas listed above, BUT I can't use a tree.

Another teacher already has a tree in the hallway with another idea.

Any thoughts?

The hardest part is teaching the same concept to two different grades and coming up with different activities for both.

Plus, I need to include poetry somewhere------- geez

Thanks

I was thinking of soemthing that. I rea them Miss Rumphius and we talked about how she made the world a more beautiful place by planting seeds everyhwere. We then talked about how they could too.

So it would tie in nicely!

Thanks

Hi! I like the "seed" idea and thinking a giant watermelon and have the children write on seeds and post it on.
My lesson at the begining of the year is Aim: What makes a good citizen? I give the children post it notes and they can write on them, if they cannot write or spell it they can draw a picture on their post it and It goes onto large chart paper. I have all the post it's on the chart paper and it looks great in all the colors and it is the children's work. I love the seed idea.
Good Luck!!!
