Glucose test diet

I have to do my glucose test either tomorrow or Thursday.

Would my diet/food intake today affect the glucose test tomorrow?

I don't want to fail it.

Re: Glucose test diet

Personally, I just wouldn't eat in the morning. My doctor told me I could, so I had a piece of toast and I had to take the 3 hour.

Good luck!Chat Icon

You could limit your sugar/carb intake - but I will be honest - I wouldn't change your eating habits for the test. It is designed to see if you have problems to protect you and the baby - if it takes eating differently to pass you are not helping youself or the baby.

Re: Glucose test diet

I was told no carbs - only protein for breakfast - or fast.

Re: Glucose test diet

it is not your intake that affects the test. What the test is doing is checking your body's ability to properly process sugar in the time alloted. The reason some drs make you fast is so that they have a definite starting point/frame of reference for the results (This is what I was told amyway.)

Good luck tomorrowChat Icon

Re: Glucose test diet

don't eat anything that morning...for a 1 hr or 3 hr.

I ate both times for the 1 hr like they said I could, and failed.

Re: Glucose test diet

Yes, I know about the no food after midnight.

I SOOOO don't want to go for the 3hour test.

I was just wondering if my diet today would influence my test tomorrow.

Re: Glucose test diet

I ate a chocolate cupcake around 9pm the night before the 1 hour test, took the test at 7am and failed.
When I took the 3 hour, I didnt eat after 7pm, took the test at 630am and passed
