Girl Toddler Moms - DD has thin fragile hair.. help!

I was combing her hair out after bath time and all those little split ends just kill me. I think she got them because of the ponytails.

What do you use to keep their hair strong?

DD is nearly 2y.o. but we use a conditioning detangler. I also try to use hair elastics that say they don't pull hair out and I also try not to put the elastics around too many times.

Well I don't go painfully tight but I need to put it on tight enough or her hair just falls out.

her hair isn't tangled really .. again too fine. But do you think it will help?

I use those elastic half white half color bands that are sold in like CVS etc. Also, I find that keeping it cut to a nice bob at or slightly below her chin REALLY has helped to make it stronger and thicker. I love long hair, mine is almost to my waist, but its totally stronger and less stringy looking when its shorter.
