getting to JFK to pick up from 7pm arrival...

How long should it take me to get from Lynbrook to JFK?

My brother is flying in to be with us for my dad's surgery tomorrow and his flight gets in at 7pm.

Do you think 45 minutes is enough time from Lynbrook? It would normally take 15 or 20 mins with no traffic - but that NEVER happens.

Good question... LOL

The directions I have say to take Sunrise Hwy to the Belt Parkway.

Should be 17 mins with no traffic... but tonight I'm guessing there will be lots of traffic!

you are going against traffic..it's a bit of a nightmare getting out of JFK these days so even if you left yourself 30 minutes you would probably be right on time.

Lynbrook is very close to JFK..

If I don't see you on later I wish your dad luck tomorrow.

Hang in there. Prayers help..my brother is living proof. All these wonderful people on here prayed for him and he made it.

I'm very close to Peninsula, too... but don't know how to get to JFK from there.

ETA - I only have to be on the belt for 2 miles... but during rush hour, that could take hours!

if you take peninsula south to rockaway turnpike and make a right, you follow it and it splits and becomes 878 (nassau expressway) and that takes you past jfk. that way you could avoid the belt altogether. but those aren't great directions and if you aren't familiar with it, you may not want to try it if someone is waiting on you. you could maybe try it for the ride home and see if it would work better for you.

he is! He has a long way to go but I expect that he will make a great recovery over time. he will face all kinds of deficits, but he is alive and with us..he gets to see his kids grow up.

Your dad will come through with flying colors. He has a great family behind him.

You could take Rockaway Blvd the whole way. I think 45 minutes is enough time. What day of the week?

i would definately allot extra "getting lost" time at JFK. Well...at least I seem to always make a wrong turn, as do a lot of others I know. I didn't mean to offend you and hope I didn't.That airport is a mess! I'd say 45 min. is good.
