Geico?

Do they MAKE you put your spouse on? My DH called today for a quote andthey told him I had to call them and have him added as another driver...they won't let him have his own policy. I thought this was a little weird.

Re: Geico?

Geico wanted me to prove I lived at my parents house- with a utility bill- when my Dad had 4 cars insured with them

so I went with All State- they were cheaper also- by alot

Geico also goes back 10 years on you lic- which is unheard of- all state goes back 4

Re: Geico?

They didn't make me add my husband. Also, we have had 3 tickets and one accident in the time that we are insured by them and they have not raised our rates one bit. My State Farm agent wouldn't even insure us with that on our licenses.

I just got our renewal. I was surprised, but happy about it.

They also beat State Farm by at least $800/yr.

Re: Geico?

I'm pretty sure that you have to tell them of anyone living in your house, b/c they may drive your car at sometime.

I added DH to my Geico policy, b/c he didn't have a car at the time. I just received an 8 year loyalty discount (30% of my plan!) and they go by ticket date, not conviction date, like most other insurance agencies, so you can fight a ticket and if you delay it enough, it will never affect your insurance!

I had to add DH, but I dont think it cost us anymore. DH doesn't need an insurance policy because he is covered through his auto dealership. But I guess Geico looks at is as though he could drive the car I am insuring, and he does do that, so I had no problem.

does your DH want his own policy?

my DH has insurance through USAA, which is even cheaper than Geico, so he will not be going on mine.

Re: Geico?

Adding a driver shouldnt change your rate unless they have a bad license ex:accidents, more than one at fault or violations.

Basically it is necessary to know this info due to that , YES...they may drive your vehicle so therefore...all listed drivers are to be known.

Does it happen where the ins company dosent find out..sure. If you are insuring at two different places..two different companies...you just have to prove u are insured elsewhere and they wont have to list the additional driver.

Also if the additional driver hasnt had their license for too long, it will raise it as well. Both of us are from the city. I just got my license a year and a half ago. When I got added to the insurance, the rates jumped because I didn't have my license for at least three years. But our rates with geico are great! We just got our renewal, and it even dropped $400!!

Yes...im sorry....being from LI we only get that often with new drivers, youthful drivers. its a surcharge for anyone licensed less than 3yrs, inexperienced operator surcharge.

My DH wants to get his own policy. He has his own car, which I do not drive...I don't know how...it's stick. They gave him a better rate then his other company, but they said since he's married I would have to add him on to my policy and he can not get his own policy.Chat Icon He just wants to get insurance for HIS car.

I think it's cheaper if you're both on the same policy.

My DH is as well. Actually we both had GEICO as singletons and when we got married it got cheaper.
