GD - High fasting blood sugar levels?

Yesteday morning my # was 120 and it was fine for the rest of the day (96, 128, 116) I had moderate ketones this morning.

This morning it is 114. I don't get it. i followed the diet. What can I do?

I had the same problem. Only my fasting numbers were high.

Are you eating a snack before bed? If not you should be and see if that helps.

Unfortunately for me, that didn't help, so I was put on a half dose of gluybride (it's a pill) that I would take with my evening snack before bed and it kept my numbers consistently around 80 in the morning.

The first night I had a cup of blueberries, but I didn't have a snack last night.

We'd gone out to dinner and I was afraid I'd "gone over" so I didn't have one. I'll try one tonight.

Is there a snack that you suggest?

Everyone is different, but I found snacking was the worst thing for me to do.
Fasting is the hardest to control. My numbers are fine all day, but I ended up having to do an insulin injection (with a snack) before bed to get my fasting under control.

everyone is different in what their bodies can tolerate for a snack. I was told by high risk Dr. and the GD nurse that my evening snack was important to have. I found what worked for me was some cheese and Rye Triskets (a combo of protein and carbs).

But again, everyone is different to what their bodies can process with GD. I could not eat ANY carbs aside from the 8 triskets I would have at night. Otherwise my blood sugars would soar.

Have you met with a nutritionist? Did they give you a sample meal plan? If not, I would ask your OB who they recommend to women with GD.

I have GD - newly..go Thur to Nutritionist to get a GD diet..not looking forward to that. I am testing 4x a day now and my fasting is also above 90...but I may not be eating right yet..so I guess I will know more after I eat following the right diet.
